World's Worst Mass-Murderers - Religious Extremism Or Enlightened Secularism?

History - Written in Blood

The history of the world has been written in blood, until recently by dominating religions, intolerant of other faiths or beliefs: from dark-age pogroms, to early Islam's rampages, to the Crusades, to conquest of the New World, to the Inquisition, and to Stalin and Hitler and genocidal Holocaust. Throughout this gory litany, peace-seeking philosophers, war-weary, have dreamed periodically of a world without conflict. Other than the cultures and countries which worshipped the glory of mortal combat, e.g. The rulers and elite citizenry of old Rome, Sparta and more recently Prussia, most philosophers, and authentically at-risk commoners throughout history have dreamed of quiet lives without friction or violence, safe from both external and internal attacks upon their freedoms and persons, hoping only to be permitted to enjoy their families and accomplishments in peace - and to die in bed at a respectable age.

News From Cambodia

Early on, wars were fought and peoples murdered to spread religion, coercive conversions forcing acceptance of the God of a dominant power. Dismayed at the carnage, rational humankind philosophized that no true divinity could tolerate, much less demand, such unwarranted cruelty - hence they must all be false - hence an anti-religion philosophy of rule-by-rationality should-be superior. Mankind began searching out a workable coming to peaceful governance - coexistence among peoples of differing faiths and philosophies - without bloodshed. By an "either-or" argument, if God and Religion seemed to be more cause than solution, possibly durable peace could be achieved between nations - if "faith" would be discarded and supplanted with "reason".

Such daring reasoning was envisioned, then espoused - the thought of "enlightened" rule was industrialized - a peaceful society, governed by fairness in rules of conduct and justice; it was embarked upon and grew, with democratized liberation of countries from prior religious domination. Such optimistic and curious "Enlightenment" theories took root, conceptually non-tyrannical authority being envisaged - neither rule by royal-lineage nor by divinity figures, instead leaders to be prime from the populace by majority choice, government by rational, impartial laws and justice, replacing religious dogmatism. The system was implemented with confidence, preamble efforts beginning in (1776 in the Us - excluded hereinafter, and) 1794 with the French Revolution. The ringing phrase "Liberte, Egalite, Fraternite" became the catchword of hope in France .

This hope of a best coming was, however, short-lived, persisting but two years - ending with a parade of citizens, deemed unworthy of life, escorted to the guillotine - and a flood of blood. Subsequently, possibly inevitably, the pendulum of non-religions or "enlightened" governance went into "overswing" - the world experiencing (perhaps) the extreme in authoritarian rule based upon the moral compass of mere men - dictatorships - Communism and Nazi-ism!

Extremism of religious ideology and bigotry in living memory as well as recorded history, cannot be denied. Millions of lives have been taken by hatred as frenzied zealots of one religion held power over others - oft-times given a no-win choice, forced conversion or the sword. Even greater extremism is clear today, the virulence being obvious in the venue choice - where civilians, especially children obtain - bloodied body-parts of innocents are shown in lurid photos and described in every newspaper - blown-up in buses, restaurants, marketplaces, houses of worship. Human intolerance of faiths other than their own, especially while outbreaks of mob science of mind - particularly when exhorting a divine "commandment" to kill "the infidel" - are spurred on by inflammatory and instantaneous distribution of world news. Such bloodshed is even more commonplace today than in the past. So what is the carnage scorecard?

Undoubtedly hundreds of thousands of helpless human beings have been killed by the excesses of religion in recorded history, inflamed zealots, dark-age pogroms, genocides prominent to the Holocaust, and present-day Islamo-terrorists. However, in contrast, when the consummate decision authority for life and death has been placed in human ethical standards of morality and justification, the chase of ever-greater powers and conquests are apparently irresistible. Rationalizations and cold assessments of benefits and advantages seem to authentically overwhelm restraint - prominent to carnage and ferocity - greatly exceeding even inflamed religious bigotry. Instead of the envisaged tolerance and fraternity, the end result of political experiments in "enlightened" human authority has been both unanticipated and uninhibited, the untethering of the worst instincts of human beings.

Over 100 Million Killed

Totaling the score can only be done in round numbers, but despotic rulers have caused over 100 million habitancy being killed - by Communism and Nazi-ism within this past century: China, Soviet Union, North Korea, Cambodia, Africa, Afghanistan, and Nazi Europe. These human beings were killed, not in battle or by faith-based hatreds ("if your god is not my god, then you must die"), but from an ideology that denied "faith" itself ("There is no god, only man is the judge of right and wrong!"). With "political correctness" holding sway, it is religion itself that is targeted.

The history of humankind is a history of killing, not for food as in the animal kingdom, but to increase power, dominance of peoples and for land-mass acquisition. Today, of the world religions, all but one seem to have grown beyond desires to kill or drive conversions of other faiths, only the Muslim religion seems to still account for the reduce of not only their own lives but also those of their own children, in order to deny others a desired worship of their own gods.

Clearly, man's warlike nature is not curbed by devotion to a divinity. But the record shows that governance and morality considerations - which if not restrained by considerations superior to human authority - seems to lead to rationalizations for abuses with much more extreme end-results. Human nature, absent the moral and ethical compass of religion and with authority without limitation, seems to the obvious justification of the extreme in extremism, rationalizing away impediments to increasing authority and acquisition - mass murder without conscience.

Cambodia Needs Solid Workers' Representatives

Government's openness to direct foreign venture has manifested influx of garment factories, which for half a decade, draws the most wage to the government's financial store house. Simultaneously, countless conflicts in range of dimensions have plainly appeared in the middle of the employees and employers.

Due to entrance to better education, public networkings as well as financial privileges of the employers' sides, trade unions and union federations have been established to address the injustice of the employees. The point of trade union preparation is very positive, however, this certain point has so far turned negative, when it becomes too much and best of all, most of the trade unions and union federations have no capacity and willingness in addressing the interests of the employees.

News From Cambodia

Having worked as a schedule officer of labor schedule for an Ngo, I have come to liaise with dissimilar trade unions and union federations. Resulting from these liaisons, I have come to know that all most all trade unions and union federations have no capacities and willingness to sass to the employees' interests at all; most of them see trade unions or union federations just as transitional path to better opportunities.

We need just a few better trade unions and union federations, not too many like this. And I see no point in this dramatic quantity. Despite government's openness to establishment, trade unions and union federations itself, its stakeholders, and the donors shall take measures to push for their capacities and willingness, not just mere trade unions and union federations. Finally, we do need to see trade unions, union federations and non-government entities free from any political affiliation and private interests.

Thailand Crack Down on Border Runs - The Clock Starts Now

A new visa law for Thailand tourists from 37 countries went into corollary on Oct 1st. Border officials are not sure what the new rules will entail.

The investment of many before Oct 1 was that the Thai Immigration officers would count days, or that you would need to break the trips up, so that your passport showed that you had left the country for a meaningful time. It was felt that the new law was put into effect, to stop foreigners from working illegally in the country, depriving Thai's of jobs and the taxes that these jobs would create by these illegal workers.

News From Cambodia

Many have abused the system for years. Those with out allowable visas would do border runs in order to stay in Thailand, some of them for years. an additional one new, but more sinister reason, was the arrest of John Kerr, the self confessed American murderer of Jon Bennet Ramsey, which ironically turns out later to be a hoax, was the final straw, causing the Thais immigration to lose face, as they failed in protecting the Thai population from foreign pedophiles and murders

The first border official that I talked to at the Thai Cambodia border at Had Lek, informed me that you will get 3 entries, and then you will need to wait to enter the country again, until after the 6 months from the first entrance. This would have been a worst case scenario for many that need to transit through, or do lots of short trips into the kingdom. He did offer that if you could get a visa from a Thai embassy, that you would be able to get in, but you would have to go to an embassy, and wait your turn to see man that would be able to issue you with a valid visa.

At Suvarnabhumi Airport Bangkok's new airport The consensus of any of the immigration folks is that as long as you don't go over 90 days in any 6 month period, you can enter as many times as you want. This is good news for the population that have a need to come into the kingdom for short periods, but that don't stay for long.

Now the query is if you go to a foreign country that has a embassy like Cambodia's Phnom Penh, with the new rules, will the embassy be able to issue a visa? Apparently the retort is yes they can! With this real visa in your passport the 90 day clock begins again I asked any immigration officials at Suvarnabhumi, and they all had the same answer, so a real visa issued by an embassy will restart the clock.

The rules for seclusion visas and for work visas remain the same the only other news was that they are charging allot more on overstays and will put you in jail if they catch you on a overstay.

With the coup there is no legislative body to change the rules, so the law will be in corollary until at least Sept Oct 2007. The soonest that a new government can be formed according to the timetable construct by the coup leaders.

Philosophers' Three Roles in This World

Every second, problems arise somewhere nearby us. These problems can be individual, family, society or global problems. Would we leave these problems unsolved?

The acknowledge is "No." Solid measures must be taken to solve these endless problems surrounding human or even inhuman contexts. However, not everybody is endowed with the mental faculties to solve these problems; a very few human part of the society are assigned with the roles to solve these always-on-the-move problems.

News From Cambodia

Almost every one of us who are opportune adequate to understand this text are aware of the term "philosopher." But what most of us do not know are 1- why we need philosophers, 2- what their roles are in our human world and 3- What they need to teach us.

We need them, because we need the world to be sustained and to be human. Philosophers are innately endowed to make the above desire comes into a reality. But why can't all of us do it? We can't do it, because all of us are trapped with four demons: self-fulfillment, love, respect-desire and bias. Philosophers are trained to be free of these four abstract traps.

And what about the second role of the philosophers? The second role of the philosopher is to best acknowledge all the questions that simple citizen like us can't solve. Those questions can be just any question, even the childish questions, crazy questions or questions to trap them.

And the third role of philosophers is to teach all of us to be "reasonable men."

I don't know whether we have bona fide philosopher in this world or not, however, should you wish to be a genuine philosopher, have a second conception about the three roles of philosophers above.

Current Cambodia's Prevalent Diarrheas and My Simplified Resolutions

Unemployment

Unemployment has now become one of the basal drawbacks for Cambodia's existing plight. As one of the university students, I have all the time been greatly discouraged by the unemployment rate in Cambodia. Will my time-consuming endeavour produce cost-effective output? Is my instruction an empty promise? Would I be a "should-be" productive member of the society? These rhetorics have all the time subtracted most of the Cambodian students from acting as full citizens (power of the state).

News From Cambodia

From being a honourable empire that produced architectural masterpieces of the Angkor era, Cambodia now is one of the most tender or probably the tenderest tigers in Southeast Asia. Undp reported that in 2002, imports of goods and services accounted for 67% of Cambodia's Gdp and gross domestic product (Gdp) accounted for only Us$ 4,215 million in 2003 (Asean).

Subsequent to Cambodia's open-sky policy, international cooperation and assistances have been apparently and continuously flowed in, and much more have been promised. Cambodia's population is much smaller compared to most of other regional countries. In addition, rivers, lacks, and forests and other secret resources promise plentiful stocks of at least the nation's basis needs. Cultural assets, such as Angkor Wat, Preh Vihear temple and other existing and secret natural assets have attracted influx of local and international tourists. Yet, unemployment is one of Cambodia's gravest crises. The world is man-made; this means unemployment is man-made either, so in what ways can the unemployment be unmade?

1. Eliminate imperceptible But Deep-rooted Demons

Cambodia has never applied the procedure that super-markets can open from what time to what time, from which day to which day, and small store doesn't have to apply the correct rules regulated by the government, yet World Bank Group reports that in 2002, foreign direct venture accounted for only Usd 53,8 millions. What make Cambodia an unattractive venture destination? World Bank Group releases an additional one report that "allegation of corruption is widespread" in Cambodia.

Cambodia needs to build good trust for impending investors, by elimination corruption, bureaucracy, amending complicated commercial regulations that are incentives to corruption. But how can these vocations be executed? From an outset, government should internationally or regionally standardize the law on investment. Episode Iii, report 7 which stats that "The Council for the improvement of Cambodia shall provide a response as to its decision to all investor/applicants within a period not to exceed 45 days following the date of submission of the faultless venture application." 45 days is too long compared to other countries in the region and in other parts of the world, so government needs to shorten this imposed date. Besides this, government should not restrict venture incentives to only in nine fields: Pioneer and/or high technology industries; Job creation; Export-oriented businesses; Tourism industry; Agro-industry and Value-adding industries; bodily infrastructure and energy; Provincial and rural development; Environmental protection; and Investments in a special Promotion Zone (Spz) as states in Episode V, report 12 of the law on investment. Encouragement restriction to just some kinds of job would condense the job diversities.

Because of job-condense, most of the students select the fields of their studies, not in accordance to their interests or innate talents, but in accordance to the market. Market-based decision has demanded many students to study two universities at the same time. This has greatly affected the qualities of instruction and is one of the basal causes of unemployment. In my The Advantages of Serious Stance that was published in The Rasmey Kampuchea Daily, No. 3556, Thursday, 23rd December 2004, I strived to illustrate the present and future advantages of serious stance, by referring to some philosophers that held serious stances, such as Socrates and The Buddha: These two population could become history conquerors, because of their serious stances. Finally, I claimed that "job is not the only objective of study, but self-actualization would be the solid objective." I chose law as my major in the university, and many disagreements have been whole from my parents, friends and other relatives, because they think that the job anticipation for law graduate is very faint in Cambodia. My self-expression straight through the local newspaper has urged I, myself to untiringly hold law as my only major until today.

Government should apply the free-market principles of "customer is the king." The world is absorbing very fast and we have to serve the customer as fast as they desire. Not only the law on investment, other laws connected to commerce, trade and venture must be regionally and internationally standardized. complicated law would lead to legal corruption and under-the-table corruptions, which mean much more money is needed to be paid by the customers for nothing.

Secondly, there should be surely cut off commercial court. Cambodia has only one court to deal with every kind of case: commercial, civil and criminal. This proves weakness and ineffectiveness of law enforcement and disagreement settlement. How can a person have every skill? Furthermore, this single-minded court must be surely cut off from legislative and especially administrative institution, so that justice could become for apparent for our customers.

Recently, I have written a text named "Government-ness" and was published in The Kampuchea Thmey Daily, year No. 4, No. 690, Wednesday 23 March 2005." One of the Answers to Why Cambodia Has Sluggish Development" was uploaded in http://www.talesofasia.com/rs-67-development.htm. an additional one text is called "A perceive into uncivilized action" was uploaded in http://talesofasia.com/rs-66-uncivilized.htm. In the first text, I explained that "creating justice" should be the first priority of the government. In the second text, I touched the ground of disjunction of multimedia power from administrative power, which is one of the elements of liberal democracy. In the third text, I enquired into the rule of law would be an instrument of disagreement resolution, by drawing examples from family context and increasingly from the society. I also took a perceive into Cambodia's tragic past, that conflict-maker never applied philosophical mechanism to solve the conflict, but disagreement was to be solved by the law of the jungle. Cambodia's bygone and up-to-date past should be invaluable lessons for today and tomorrow Cambodia for the purpose of betterment. Revenge is never been overcome by revenge.

These social participations have immensely changed my life. They have then been incentives to my scholarship and research resistance and I was contacted by an Australian lawyer, Peter Howitt. Peter has now become my friend and professor, and we discuss about Cambodian laws. Peter has all the time encouraged me to learn, sent me documents to read, and taught me more law-related issues. I believe my exposures to these social participations must have been heard into the social ears, and would be some kinds of role model to value and encourage the right to self-expression.

2. instruction To produce The surely Educated

Not only ultimate shortage in venture that has produced unemployment rate in Cambodia, but "to few jobs for too few experts is an additional one legitimacy to high unemployment rate." What do I mean by too few jobs for too few experts? Cambodia's instruction is unrecognized in the international stage and even in the region. Though Episode Vii, report 18, provides that "Investors shall be allowed to hire foreign employees when the qualification and expertise of these foreign employees are not ready in the Kingdom of Cambodia among the Cambodian populace." Cambodian citizens, still, mostly can't stand chances to those positions, because of the lack of intellectual competitions. So what should be done to make Cambodia's instruction resurgent? I would suggest two potentials for this objective.

Firstly, government should allocate proportional subsidy, subtracted from the national wage for higher instruction institution. In the Rectangular procedure of the third mandate of The Royal Government of Cambodia, subsidy for the field of higher instruction is not mentioned at all. This means that higher-education custom has to be totally responsible for everything. Higher instruction is one of the most productive institutions of every nation in the world, responsible for producing the productive and productive members of the society, so potential and standardized measures are needed to be taken to bring such the power into reality. For me, without subsidy, higher-learning custom would by all means; of course be converted into "business establishment", which mean profit-oriented. Profit-oriented mentality will immensely sway the potential of Cambodia's field of higher education.

Secondly, government and higher-education custom itself should apply what I call "the university-ness." In an additional one of my letters entitled "Free-Market and Cambodia's Higher-Education" to The Kampuchea Thmey Daily, I criticized most of the Cambodian universities and institutes of not daring to apply the correct disciplines primary for students' capacities. Most of the universities and institutes apply the principles of "customer is the king", but higher-learning shall not be business. I also complained that establish and university have distinct status and criteria, but most of the institutes have changed their titles from institutes to universities without applying the standardized status and criteria." Though Cambodia has no law and order to regulate the field of higher-learning, establish and university itself should be conversant about this, because most of the senior staff are PhD or master's graduate from the worldly predominant universities" I added. This is an additional one of my exposures to social participation, that is a motivation to ask for endless comprehension into what I call "university-ness" and, of course, I adopted my own constitution to meet the international standard, while I am a learner of an unrecognized university.

Not only I myself, this social participation has brought quite a large amount of my friends to curiosity and conversation on "university-ness" was, indeed, instigated by me.

"An ineffective domino would never produce a confident domino effect"

Sky-High Gasoline's Price

Cambodia's today (2005) gasoline costs 3,300 Riel (about Usd 80 cent) per litter, whiles my mother's plus my father's monthly wages inventory for only about Usd 50. This price is extremely high compared to Cambodia's Gdp which is about Us$ 4,3 billion (World Bank Group). Gasoline is the basic need for Cambodian populace, so it should not be high-priced at all; otherwise population can't survive. extremely high-priced gasoline would lead to other price-increase in principle goods and services, specifically food, electricity, water, transportation, condition care, and increasingly instruction (academic textbooks, way to internet, extracurricular documents and other stationery).

It is reported that gasoline in Thailand and Vietnam is much cheaper than Cambodia. Lao, on the other hand, is more titanic than Cambodia, because it has no sea. Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam all have sea and especially these three countries are neighbours, but why can't Cambodia's gasoline be as cheap as in that of Vietnam and Thailand? And in what ways can the gasoline's price be decreased to be on par to that of Thailand and Vietnam?

The clarification is clearly seen. Government should apply one of the elements of "free-market economy" which is free and fair competition. Gasoline in Cambodia is totally monopolized by Sokimex Company, chaired by Sok Kong, president of Cambodia's accommodation of commerce. Every gas company in Cambodia has to unconditionally supervene the price imposed by Sokimex Company. Monopoly is not an element of liberal democracy; it is practiced only in Socialist countries.

The qoute was to be settled, when quite a long time ago, after Prime minister Hun Sen announced for any company that could decrease the gasoline's price to about 1,700 Riel (about 47 Usd cent), a Russia-related company guaranteed that it could provide for this price, and even less than that. Every person was happy, except perhaps Mr. Sok Kong, his counterparts, and other Sokimex's stakeholders. The prime minister's response was extremely unexpected; he not only did not accept the crisis-solution (which he himself, proposed), but also threw malicious metaphor to the Russia-related gasoline company. This paradox showed us that the government, specifically the prime minister himself was not responsible for what he spoke, and did not willingly intends to solve the people's qoute at all. Sok Kong, as claimed by a huge amount of people, has close relationship with the prime minister. And a large amount of the prime minister's relatives are owners of the gasoline associates and stations. So, if he allowed the Russia-related company to operate in Cambodia, his fellowmen and relatives would have been badly hurt. The prime minister is seen, by this hypothesis, place his personal schedule in prior to the social agenda. So how can this be solved?

In my research paper, entitled "Plato; Life and Wisdoms" for the Third Cambodia's National Nou Hach Contest (2004-2005), I took a deep ground into Plato's political philosophy, in order to express that who should be the ruler and what the ruler's obligations are. My most leading point was to express that ruling is an awe-inspiring vocation, so not Every person can reach the ruling position. The ruler must have, if not surely philosophical, but at least some kind of philosophical mentalities, that's why careful and protracted philosophical and scientific enculturation is need to be executed before becoming the ruler. Ruler must have mature mind, they must not be self-indulgent, and otherwise ruler and base populace would not be able to distinguish from each other. And the most leading vocations of the ruler are the order of the state and the welfare of the people, as expressed in my research paper. I didn't mean to totally supervene Plato's political philosophy; otherwise our government would become totalitarian, but I understanding that some points he/she could perhaps follow.

On the similar ground, in my One infer Tennessee Prospers, that was published in http://pages.prodigy.net/nhn.slate/nh00073.html, I took one of the legitimacies why Tennessee, a state of The United States of America, prospers. This is an additional one of the philosophical approaches to "leader's willingness for the social good would attract the volunteerism of the inhabitants. Blend of these two merits would lead the whole state, and increasingly the whole nation into victory".

My whole research into Greece's aged doctrine and other varieties of topics have made me more conversant to what is surely politics, so that I can have some analytical knowledge to view current Cambodian politics and politicians, and, I believe, my paper would at least bring dim light to today's Cambodian leaders.

Legal Loophole and Ambiguity

Long been under the French colony, Cambodia has adopted Civil Law system. In Civil Law principles any committed wrongdoing that is not stated in the law, the committer is innocent. Moreover, the judge has no precedence like that of the base Law system; it is more likely that the transgression committer would surely be innocent. Cambodia are lacking many laws; such as, anti-domestic violence law, anti-corruption law, many business-related laws, etc. Such a loophole would make "culture of impunity" whole in Cambodia.

More ironically, though some kinds of offense are stated in the law, the remedy is not stated. This is an additional one of the Cambodia's legal loopholes that would originate injustice. For example, in report 7, paragraph 2 of Cambodia's law on venture states that "any Government officials who refuse to recap and sass to an investor's application past the above mentioned period of time (45 days), without permissible justification, shall be punished by law." Yes, we see that the wrongdoer shall be punished by law, but what kind and the level of punishment is not stated at all. This would make the wrongdoer innocent, and even difficult for the judge to inflict the punishment either. an additional one example I want to draw is from law on society and functioning of the ministry of information. Episode 2, report 11 states "press shall not release any information that would lead to social disorder, inspire one personel or many to commit violence." This report is too ambiguous. What is the information that would lead to social disorder should be clearly stated. Journalism is such a sophisticated job, so what surely social disorder is too broad. The bad-wisher could illustrate this report to hurt any personel he/she hates.

Legal loophole not only could turn the law unjust and originate cultural impunity in Cambodia, but also make the students surely difficult to have a good handle on Cambodian law. In one of my general subjects called "business law", the whole document from the starting to the end of the term, is totally taken from foreign law, namely British, French, or American company law. Would our knowledge be turn into know-how, by totally learning foreign company law in Cambodia? Indeed, the more informant we are the good we become, but knowledge of only the foreign company law without even a singular sense of my country's company law, would never be good. social order is one of or probably the forefront commitments of today's Cambodian government, legal loophole, on the other hand, has dramatically contributed to Cambodia's disorder. Two matter-of-fact approaches below intend to fill Cambodia's legal loophole and ambiguity.

1. Renaissance Is Never Too Late

Renaissance (rebirth of lost literature and culture of the western world) started in the western world in about 14th, 15th and 16th century. From that time onward, reasoning competence has taken deep root in the western mindset. Cambodia, similarly, is never too late to start "legal renaissance". More laws, intended to Cambodia's prosperity, shall start today under the third mandate of The Royal Government of Cambodia (Rgc).

My A perceive Into One Uncivilized Action, which was published in http://talesofasia.com/rs-66-uncivilized.htm, I touched a deep ground into the disadvantages of Cambodia's legal loophole and ambiguity. In the above publication, my most imperative intension was to express that absence of anti-domestic violence law would turn the offense into habit. Without the law and punishment law, nobody can punish the wrongdoer, so the offense could become habit of the uncivilized family. Yes, there is resolution, but resolution by cultural value is not effective, because cultural value has no "sense of force and punishment."

2. Be Receptive To Constructive Criticism

In my short story, entitled My Father's Last Dream for the Third Cambodia's National Nou Hach Contest (2004-2005), I coined a quote "almost every happiness in the world is initiated by the closes happiness." What do I mean by such a quote? History has told us that self-indulgence has been the deep-rooted value of most of the Cambodian leaders. This quote particularly intended to insert more value into the surrounding criticisms. Most of Cambodia-based Ngos and I have seen that it is too rare for the Cambodian government to accept the constructive criticisms from individuals or legal entities. Prime minister Hun Sen, however, has persistently protested the criticisms and proposals by saying that those Ngo express themselves to gain benefits. Yes, Cambodia has such Ngos, but we can know that which Ngo is profit-oriented and which Ngo is not profit-oriented. There must be good points and bad points from local and international Ngos, and the government does not have to accept all the annotation and proposal, just adhere to the points that intend to build the social good. But it has clearly seen that too little or none of the criticisms or proposals that the government has adhered to.

Sensitivity to annotation and I-am-always-right sentiment is one of the reasons to Cambodia idle development. Immediately after I saw these kinds of peccadillo, I wrote One of the Answers to Why Cambodia Has Sluggish improvement and was uploaded in http://www.talesofasia.com/rs-67-development.htm. In this essay, I took a surface-grasp into Cambodia's multimedia extremism; fully pro-government or fully anti-government and I also criticized the imbalanced voice of the political parties. One party never listens to an additional one party, especially in the middle of Sam Rainsy Party (opposition party) and Cambodian People's Party (governing party).

For the similar purpose, in my One Point That The Royal Government of Cambodia Should supervene America that was published in The Kampuchea Thmey Daily, year Nบ4, Nบ685, Thursday 17 March 2005, I drew one example into American politics: Democratic and Republic Party, just have distinct name, but they share the same propensity which is to bring prosperity and order for American people. So they exchange ideas and policies for the America's good. Cambodia, on the other hand, the governing party and opposition party are fully different; Sam Rainsy, opposition party leader once said: If have Hun Sen no Rainsy. This is the most leading infer to the country's upheavals.

These social involvements have brought me deeper into the world's politics and, of course, I was the one who instigated added argument on the topic with my friend Peter. And this dialogue has dragged me even added into the evolving world's affairs and politics.

Conclusion

A land of smiling population was totally demolished and substituted by a land of tear, because of brother-enemy conflicts. A forward-looking Cambodia has just been emerged in the 1990s, while most of the western world has reached its operate age. Converting itself into part of the world's society, Cambodia must face uncountable challenges, but "can-do spirit", I think, will overcome every obstacle. Yesterday Cambodia wouldn't be repentance, but it would be unschooled Episode for today and tomorrow Cambodia. We are in the middle of a new drama, and to make this drama worth-seeing, drama's directors, actors/actresses and subordinates must closely cooperate.

Internet Voting ideas of New Seven Wonder Foundation is well Unjust for Cambodia

Now the New 7 Wonders community & Foundation, based in Switzerland, has launched the internet voting principles to pick seven, surrounded by other, wonders of the world. Indeed, having access to internet, I have voted Angkor Wat (the world's biggest Hindu temple, located in Siem Reap province, Cambodia. And this temple has all the time been one of the Seven Wonders of the World) as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Unfortunately, I have seen the internet voting principles to pick the Seven Wonders of the World is unmistakably unjust for Cambodia [and other poor nations].

Stated by the World Bank, Cambodia is one of the poorest countries in the world, as well as in the region. The term "one of the poorest" means that only a so-called mini portion of the population has access to internet, information, language and other communal services and facilities. And simply, the term poor means low education or illiteracy. In Cambodia, surrounded by the twenty-four provinces, only Phnom Penh that has easy access to internet. The internet access in Sihanoukville and Siem Reap is quite high-priced and very slow.

News From Cambodia

Comparing to the United States of America, Spain, Italy, Great Britain, Australia and other countries that have one of the listed wonders of the world, Cambodia is nothing in comparison to these countries. Population, poverty, education figure, internet access, language are the evidence that the internet voting principles of the http://www.n7w.com is totally unjust. Internet is high-priced in Cambodia, comparing with curiosity of the Cambodian people; the consequent already seems to be decided.

The consequent is already seen if "majority" is the method of selection. However, I hope the world selects the Seven Wonders of the World on the basis of reality.

This narrative would serve as the message to the world to consider the way to pick the Seven Wonders of the World.

administration Based on Biblical law - The Bible As dependable Source For company Best Practices

For many centuries devout believers of the Christian faith have turned to the Bible as a source for their personal faith and practice. They use it to learn how to live their private lives according to God's revealed will. In as much as so many look to the Judeo-Christian Scriptures as a guide for their private lives, the interrogate is raised: do they also reference The Holy Book in their communal and company lives? Furthermore, even if the devout followers of Jesus Christ do use it to direct their company affairs: is the Bible a reliable source for studying company best practices. This description explores a whole of reasons why the Bible is a reliable source for training in modern company management.

First, in general, the Judeo-Christian Bible claims to be a reliable source for prosperous living which would consist of all matters of life along with business.

News From Cambodia

Sometime between the 1400 and 1200 B.C.E. A man named Moses led the Israeli people from captivity in Egypt to the border of the modern day region of Palestine or Israel. At that time, Moses passed away and Joshua his long-time apprentice led the people into the Promised Land. After the death of his mentor Moses, Joshua was a bit overwhelmed by the upcoming task. In order to relax Joshua, the Lord from Heaven gave him a vision and exhorted him not to be afraid. In that moment God commanded Joshua not to depart from the schooling of the Holy Scriptures but to meditate on them day and night. God gave the newly superior leader the promise that if he would follow the Lord's instructions left by Moses, he would be prosperous and prosperous in everything he did.

In the same way, Jesus Christ exhorted his followers. Jesus told his disciples that following his instructions was like building a house of a firm foundation. When the storms of life rage, the man who lives his life according to Jesus' teachings would stand firm. Conversely, Jesus said that not doing things according to his word was like building a house on top of sand. When the storms of life rage, their lives would be washed away by the thunderous tides.

Second, the Bible claims to be profitable for teaching sound principles to those who study it which includes principles for practicing business.

Paul was one of Jesus' most noted followers. He never met Jesus personally, but Jesus appeared to him straight through a vision sometime after His death and resurrection. For many years, Paul served as a fine example to other believers and he left behind some letters he wrote to his companions and those he mentored along the way. One letter he sent was to a previous apprentice named Timothy. In that letter Paul wrote the following:

"All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for rebuking, for correcting, for training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be complete, adequate for every good work." (The Holy Bible, 2 Timothy 3:16, 17).

The phrase "equipped for every good work" must consist of company supervision practices.

Of course, to quote the Bible as a defense of its own reliability is circular reasoning and begs the question: are there any examples in its pages that serve as an example for supervision practices? The respond is: "Yes, plenty."

Third, the Bible has much sound schooling that can be applied to all parts of life.

Beyond saying so, the Bible has many foundation principles that when practiced will lead to an efficient life. These foundation tenets can be found throughout the entire volume, especially in the first five books of the Bible; the Psalms and Proverbs; the prophetic literature; the accounts of Jesus' life on earth; and the letters written and circulated by his disciples. As direct instruction, the Book of Proverbs serves as the best allinclusive source for how to show the way life in a prosperous manner. Most of the wise sayings are attributed to Solomon, the third king of ancient Israel. There are golden nuggets tucked within the text concerning many topics associated to daily problems and reactions. Most of the nuggets are not specifically addressed to company situations but can be admittedly adapted to the company environment.

Fourth, the Bible has many examples of good, mediocre and poor supervision practices.

Furthermore, The Bible is more than just a study of its own reliability and a book of nice sayings; it is also filled with real live case studies on supervision practices. These case studies are found throughout the entire text and serve as fine schooling of how to and how not to lead. Some of the good examples of best practices in supervision include: Abraham, Joseph, Moses, Joshua, Samuel, King David, Nehemiah, Daniel, Jesus, Paul and God Himself. Some of the worst examples are: Nimrod, Joab, King Saul, King Ahab, King Herod Antipas, and Caiaphas the High Priest. The fact that the Biblical text includes both good and bad examples of supervision practices lends to its credibility as a guide in company affairs. Real life is sticky. Working with people is hardly black and white. The Bible reveals the true nature of humans as imperfect beings driven by self-preservation and greed. We obviously live in an era with similar characteristics as those in Moses' and Jesus' times. Therefore, we can learn much about how to conduct in a hostile company environment and still succeed.

The Bible addresses many of the toughest issues in the company world today. In just the first five pages, it addresses such issues as: how to set up the optimal organizational environment; the basic needs of the median human being; insubordination; outright rebellion; conflict resolution; and mediation between opposing parties. Beyond these situations, there are examples of: how to use vision; how to set up organizational culture; choosing and mentoring successors, and how to approach others for best results. These are only a few of the many case studies lying within Christian Holy book. In all these things, the Bible proves itself to be a very strong guide for company supervision practices.

Before seeing to the Bible as a guide for company practices, we must decide whether the Bible is a sound source for studying supervision principles and if those principles apply to the current company environment. A true read of the entire text will furnish ample evidence that the Judeo-Christian Scriptures are a reliable source best practices in company management.

reduce Global Poverty For Less Than $50

Many feel a desire to help the poor, but do not necessarily have the financial resources to make a huge impact. Not so! Here are some ways to help reduce global poverty for less than .

Reduce poverty with some shoes. There are clubs that are determined public enterprises. The doctrine is behalf with a purpose. When you make a purchase they will donate a similar item to a person in need. Toms Shoes gives one pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair purchased. Fig Tree gives a shirt to a person in Africa for each shirt silk screened. Shoes, tee shirts and more...clothe yourself and the world. Amazingly it is highly important in many developing nations that children have the right attire to attend school. clubs that donate shoes and clothes help supply the tools children need for an education, which is a good step out of poverty.

News From Cambodia

Reduce poverty through micro loans. Unfortunately there are not many good jobs in the rural areas of developing nations, but there are a lot of good entrepreneurs. Hard circumstances usually lead to creative endeavors. Many humanitarian organizations supply micro loans to build or maintain livelihoods. Some individuals just need a diminutive bit of money to get started, while others are ready to strengthen their businesses. through a donation, or micro loan of any amount, you can help maintain families over the world. An added perk is many organizations post details about who is receiving the micro loans, allowing you to pick the person and criteria that best fits how you desire to help. World vision and Kiva are two organizations, among many, that will join together your money with an entrepreneur in a third world country.

Reduce poverty with livestock. Farm animals help families in multiple ways. First farm animals supply a source of food, such as eggs or milk, providing nutrition for good health. Some of the animals can also help with workloads allowing farmers to be more efficient. In addition, food produced by the animals or products grown can be sold for income. Purchases of livestock can be made through church mission organizations or Heifer International. These organizations then deliver the animals to families in impoverished areas.

Reduce poverty when you purchase a gift. Many stores and organizations are teaching citizen livelihood skills in poverty stricken areas. Crafts, purses, card making, jewelry, and wood products can be purchased either through retail outlets and online stores. Some are designated fair trade, while others may not have the certification but are ethically made. The purchase of these products creates profits to help families buy food and send their children to school. Global Exchange, Gifts With Humanity, Ten Thousand Villages, and Daughters of Cambodia are examples of such stores.

You may not be able to eliminate global poverty all at once, but changing the circumstances for an private or family reduces poverty for them and the world.

Tefl Jobs in Asia

With tour becoming economy and the world getting smaller, it might be tempting to think that there are no new experiences to be had. Well, we have news for you: this certainly isn't the case in Asia! It's one part of the world that has managed to keep the flame of its ancient traditions burning brightly, despite its gleaming, contemporary side. Its history, diversity and great respect for tradition are amongst the things that Asia is renowned for. There's also an fullness of sights worth seeing: the Great Wall of China, the Taj Mahal, Sunkakuwan Bay, the Tubbataha Reef, Mt.Kinabalu and the commercial hubbub of Tokyo are just the tip of the iceberg!

Though it is a veritable feast for the eyes, Asia is much more than a traveler destination. With so many bright things to see and palpate it's no wonder that habitancy flock to Asia, but you can still find areas untouched by the traveler boom.

News From Cambodia

Working in Asia will give you a completely different perspective, as you're not just going to lie on the beach (although you'll be forgiven for relaxing by the sea on your days off!). Rural areas are often less-visited and are also where English teachers are scarcest, so you'll see a way of life entirely removed from your own as well as some striking scenery. In the major cities, living amongst the habitancy you're teaching will give you a opening to try your hand at the local language as well as finding everything from the best street food, to the best place to buy a Kimono and the best place to hear traditional Sitar playing!

Culture

Not only does Asia have the largest shop for English teachers, it's as a matter of fact huge (breathe in...): Afghanistan, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bahrain, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, North Korea, South Korea, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Laos, Lebanon, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Oman, Pakistan, Philippines, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Syria, Taiwan, Tajikistan, Thailand, Turkey, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Yemen... Phew!

With so many countries, it's no wonder that cultural diversity is one of the things Asia is so well known for! From riding an elephant in Sri Lanka, to fishing with the locals in Mongolia, sipping green tea in China and surfing the waves in Taiwan, anywhere is open to exploration!

Educational standard

Asia countries are famed for their advances in mathematics and medicine, hundreds of years before the West began to develop, and many countries in Asia are still very forward-thinking. Japan and China have experienced immense economic increase and instruction is carefully a vitally prominent part of maintaining prosperity, with English language as an prominent part of both lower and higher levels of education. Countries such as South Korea are improving instruction and emphasising the importance of the English language and the use of contemporary technology. In fact, they were the first country to furnish high speed internet way to primary, secondary and high schools!

Unforunately, some poorer areas haven't benefitted from the commercial success of the cities and when an instruction is high-priced it is all too often forgone. Kerala is the only Indian state to have achieved anywhere near full literacy in traditional education, while Bihar struggles with less than half. Studying English is hugely useful in these poorer areas, but many have to rely on volunteer work.

Teaching opportunities

The most favorite areas for English teaching are Taiwan, Thailand, Japan, China, South Korea and Vietnam. Addition populations and Addition economies have created a high query for the English language and the growing middle classes view instruction as necessary for both children and adults alike, so you'll have a wide range of pupils! There's also a great variety of places to teach in, along with traditional schools, secondary schools, language schools and private schools.

With their Addition request for retrial to English teachers some countries, have tightened up entry requirements. Japan, Taiwan and Thailand are amongst those where it is now a visa requirement to have a degree if you want to teach English. If you're volunteering, it may not necessarily be an issue but one thing's for sure: any paid work requires a work or working holiday visa, so doing your study is worthwhile.

The Indian subcontinent offers less pay but lots of enthusiasm and appreciation for your hard work. Though paid opportunities can be little to the more affluent areas, poorer countries have no less to offer culturally and the palpate is rewarding adequate in itself!

Facilities

Accommodation in Asia can be as discrete as the climate, which ranges from glorious sunshine to chilly snow capped peaks. Wealthy countries have higher standards of accommodation which also reflects the cost of living. Japan is famously high-priced but the placements are normally well paid: Us00 per month on average. Homestays and shared accommodation are kinder to your budget and are more likely to be find when working in the South, where pay is less but so is the cost of living. When a meals costs as as little as 50p, there's not much room for complaint!

Why We Celebrate Passover

Each Passover, Jews retell the story of the exodus from Egypt. This is a story of a population who emerged from slavery to relaxation and from oppression to liberty. The Passover story gives us pause to reflect upon a spiritual adventure that began with Moses and ended in the promised land of Israel. It fabricates the basis of modern Judaism and Christianity. The Passover story describes the Jews' seemingly insurmountable victory over a vastly classic enemy, a tale of wandering in the wilderness and of redemption with God's Ten Commandments. Those Ten Commandments lie at the heart of modern Judeo-Christian beliefs. They are the groundwork of our morality and the foundation of desired ethical behavior. And, when the Jews wandered for forty years in the wilderness - when they became idolaters and lost their moral compass, it was the Ten Commandments that brought them back, figuratively and literally.

Like the victory of the Hebrew Maccabi, the exodus from Egypt seemed impossible. Yet, somehow the Jews survived. In every generation, the enemies of the Hebrew nation have attempted to annihilate them. Time after time, the Jews have been defeated, evicted and enslaved. Yet, each time, they conduct to survive as a people. Each time, they return to Israel from the Diaspora. The rallying cry at each Passover Seder is, "Next Year in Jerusalem." Every Jew is bound to retell the Passover story each year as though it was happening to them. And the corporeal focus for this goal is all the time the land of Israel. Despite the fact that Jews are less than 2% of the global religious community, they somehow conduct to survive and articulate their hold upon this tiny fragment of land. Today, surrounded by enemies, the Hebrew nation is in the same predicament. How do they survive? How does their spirit continue straight through pogroms and genocide? And, what is the true meaning of Passover?

News From Cambodia

Persecution is intensely malevolent and pervasive. Humans are particularly wicked with each other. Three thousand years ago, Moses pleaded with Pharaoh to free his population from persecution and slavery. The ten plagues that followed forced him to issue the Jews. Yet even after the worst plague of all, the destruction of the firstborn of Egypt, Pharaoh pursued the Jews into the Red Sea, where his soldiers were swept away. Evil can be just as suited a motivator as love is. While the Spanish Inquisition, anyone suspected of being a Jew was imprisoned, tortured and put to death. Nazi Germany systematically annihilated millions of Jews. What purpose is served by inflicting pain and suffering upon innocent people? What promotes such evil hatred? Why is animosity aimed at the Jewish people? And, how do the Jews conduct to survive repeated attempts to destroy them?

Like Easter, Passover occurs each year in the springtime. The notion of renaissance is ubiquitous. From sacrificial lambs to the nearnessy of an egg on the Seder plate, the symbolism of devotion and rebirth is palpable. While the overriding message of Passover is freedom, gratitude and spiritual devotion, the notion of renewal allows each of us to survey the holiday by achieve acts of kindness. From generation to generation, Jews retell the Passover story and revel in the miracles that led to their redemption as a people. The Passover Seder requires that each Jew place himself or herself in the position of being a slave in Egypt. Every Jew must taste the plagues and walk straight through the wilderness. The Seder brims with imagery and metaphors. But what does this mean for us today? Can we recognize with our three thousand year old ancestors?

Good and evil exist in the world. We don't need to look very far to see it or feel it. The exodus of the Jews from Egypt is an example for us to succeed forever. Yet, humanity continues to enslave, maltreat and murder the innocent. One might have guessed that the Holocaust would put such immorality to an end. genuinely humankind should be repelled by the vast bad dream and the murder of millions of innocent people. Yet, holocausts continue unabated. Since the Nazi Holocaust, we have experienced holocausts in Cambodia, Bosnia, Rwanda and Darfur. Anti-Semitism is again growing throughout the world. Why don't we learn? When will it end? Why do the Jewish population play a essential historical role as victims in genocides? And, what can be done to stop it? What can any of us do to reduce religious persecution?

Prejudice, bigotry and racism originate an environment in which persecution thrives. This Easter and Passover, each of us can vow to promote goodwill and acceptance. The foundation of relaxation lies in our value for freedom and unity in the face of hatred and intolerance. Instead of waiting for a miracle, let us originate our own. Let each of us retell the story of the Passover as though we were personally a part of it. Moreover, as we retell the Passover story and celebrate Easter, we can place ourselves in the minds of current victims of genocide, slavery and intolerance. We have the power to defy fanaticism. We have the courage to fight for freedom. This is the meaning of Passover. We can make our own miracles by fighting to free the oppressed.

Humans are not God. But we have the power of choice. We can use it to enslave or to liberate. We can persecute or accept others. This Easter and Passover, let us vow to use our power of selection to fight for mercy, justice and liberty. If the meaning of Passover is spiritual redemption and rebirth, then let us be reborn to stop prejudice. Let us promote tolerance and encourage everybody to value the differences among us. In this way, the spirit of Passover will live on straight through our progeny. As we enjoy Passover and Easter this spring with our families, let us pause for a moment to ask what each of us can do to eradicate the evil that surrounds us. The rebirth of this spirit is the true meaning of Passover.

Water Pollution in Thailand - Size of the problem

Thailand is one of the fast growing countries in Asia nowadays. Economic experts assure that the rates of Thai economic growth are quite impressive. However, the improvement of commerce comes at other cost; pollution. Water pollution is increasingly recognized as a threat to the civilization that Thailand witnesses.

It has always been agreed that the degree of water pollution is directly proportionate to the degree of industrial development. Over the past 10 years, scientists have observed an growth in the level of toxic substances detected in water samples taken from Thailand shores. The exterior water is now contaminated with more bacteria which can growth the possibility of infection. The possibility of bacterial epidemic outbreaks has never been higher. Water pollution in Thailand shows an increased incidence of typhoid, hepatitis C and cholera outbreaks.

Sewage disposal, industrial waste products and bacterial contaminations are amongst the biggest contributors to water pollution in Thailand. On the other hand, the Thai government is recovery no endeavor to fight this disaster that is threatening the condition of every Thai.

Slavery reimbursement and Restitution For All African-Americans

Perhaps you have heard the great consider in the news media about the potential refund and restitution for all African-Americans who have ancestors who were slaves. After some 15 generations this turns out to be quite a large amount of people, in fact it is over 40 million. If the United States government were forced to give let's say ,000 to over 40 million people it would verily bankrupt our country, not that collective security won't do that same thing in the near time to come anyway, but nevertheless it would bankrupt the nation.

Additionally, how can one group of people such as African Americans request refund and restitution when other nationalities were also exploited in the early days of America. Reconsider the Irish and the Chinese while building the hasten or the time before the commercial Revolution when people work to the bone; both adults and children for very minute food, no they were not slaves but right on economically enslaved. And also if we give reparations to black-Americans descended from slaves, then we also owe the Japanese Americans who were interned while Wwii - an additional one black mark on our nations unfortunately. Recently in a coffee shop conversation I heard a white gentleman arguing with a black gentleman over this very issue. The white gentleman stated:

News From Cambodia

"What about all the crime being caused by black Americans in the inner city, I have to pay more in taxes for police and prisons and my car was broken into, I do not see anybody trying to reimburse me for that. I want my tax dollars back. So there is your Black Mirror. And if anything calls me a racist for pointing out facts; then I call the Black accommodation of business racist for having an all Black Club, excluding whites. This is a Black Racist issue, demanding refund for slavery and those complicated need to get a life and grow up. They are not helping America; they are tearing it down. Plato would have laughed at the insanity of all this."

Now then, those were not the exact words of the white gentleman as this consider got quite heated and went on for about 30 minutes nevertheless that was the gist of the seminar and it is something to philosophically think about. Do I agree with what he'd said? No not entirely, and I think both sides have some points of contention. Maybe someday we can all work this out and not be so afraid over race issues that we can't talk about it in a civilized way. What happened to America, what happened to the melting pot, why do these racial issues still go on. Why the racist comments from both sides, why the race baiting, and why all the anger from both white Americans and black Americans - We are All Americans after all!

The black gentleman was completely serious about wanting his ,000 reimbursement. He said it was owed to him and he demanded restitution. The White Gentleman was adamant about not ever giving a red cent of tax dollars for reparations, so I guess this seminar is just too heated to even mention anymore. Possibly we should all Reconsider this in 2006.

Lula Da Silva - The President of Brazil

"I am the son of illiterate father and mother"

That is how the President of Brazil describes himself...a forthright statement.

News From Cambodia

Brazil is South America's largest, most influential, economic giant. It had high inflation and immense foreign debt. It was bailed out many times. Only to get back into other mess through bad and dishonest governance. It is said the reforms of the 1990s helped Brazil pay off World Bank loans in full well ahead of scheduled time.

Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, won a landslide choice victory in October 2006. He promised economic increase and narrow the present day vast gap between rich and poor. But in congress his left-wing "workers' party" has to adopt political alliances to see expand being made towards holding choice promises. The President is lovingly called 'Lula' by the tasteless people.

Lula implemented tough fiscal policies in his first term. Cheaper stabilized, inflation halted and most foreign debts paid off. He brought a change in the old pension scheme. And an increase in the minimum wage. His pet welfare programmes targeted millions of poor families.

de Lima Melo, an agriculturalist, says, "Lula created the Bolsa Familia and has in case, granted jobs and homes for the poor people."

Antonio de Andrade, taxi driver, says, "The opposition tries hard to convince us that Lula is a thief, but I do not believe any of that."

Joao Batista Lima, pensioner, says, "Every former government was corrupt. But Lula's Pt party seems corrupt only because there is more investigation into it and citizen are paying more attention to it now."

Of policy there are opposing views. Some are very uncomplimentary indeed. But such opinions are insignificant and don't make a dent in the firm and popular bodywork of Lula. In the past income of Brazil's natural resources were stolen by past dishonest governments and passed poverty to poor people. Its natural reserved supply iron ore, is extremely prized by major manufacturing nations, together with China. For years Brazil was importing Oil. By developing offshore oil fields it is now self sufficient.

The many problematic hinderance to expand is that a few wealthy families operate most of the arable land. The Movement of Landless Rural Workers (Mst) is powerless and frustrated with land policy. It has had its own confrontations with government and has decided to sit back and watch the second spell of Lula now in the offing. The forces rule of the 1970s drove settlers in cities to Amazon rain forest region. This inhumane, brainless reasoning in the lines of Lenin of Russia, Pol Pot of Cambodia and today's Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe created havoc among the forcibly displaced people.

As in every economically poor and improperly managed country, Hiv Aids was a major problem, among the poor, that was generally ignored by the ruling class. Brazil's Aids programme is now a model for other developing countries. Hiv infection is stabilized and death rate has fallen considerably. Unlike the ever present example: Zimbabwe where life expectancy has come done to 46 years in these contemporary times.

Brazil boldly bypassed the major drugs firms to yield cheaper, generic Aids medicines. It is amazing when Thabo Mbeki of South Africa denies Hiv Aids. And the erudite Robert Mugabe of Zimbabwe ignores Hiv Aids.

Lula had to have his share of corruption scandals like any other leader of contemporary day nation. Instead, Lula straightaway apologised and said he had known nothing about the alleged corruption. And the nation believed him. That's the criteria. He has credibility unlike most leaders of Nations.

Lula was born in an abjectly poor family, in 1945. He left school at 14 to become a metal worker. In the 1970s, he sharpened his political skills as a fiery union leader. He went on to help found the Workers' Party. The former shoe-shine boy: Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva - affectionately known as Lula - became president in 2002 - the first left-wing leader of Brazil.

It is hoped he would be flourishing in giving the nation what he promised. He has the heart and the will, but would his coalition partners hold him, is the question.

One of the Answers to Why Cambodia Has Sluggish improvement

"Paris Agreements On A unabridged Political village of The Cambodian Conflict" signed on 23 October 1991, marked a significant freewill business agreement in the middle of Cambodia and the witness-states of the world, that Cambodia would unconditionally stand for liberal democracy. Era of determined change, big or small, I believe, is graphic in Cambodia; Cambodia's government is turning the ideas of democracy into practicality. But is it paralleled in the middle of the time-spending, resources (especially finance), international involvements, and the achievements received by the government? The majority, including me, would say "no", and that means the achievements would be greater. And what are the obstacles of democratization? Many obstacles are acutely seen, but media-extremism, as I name, will be the heated discussion below.

Multi Media And Publication

News From Cambodia

One of the most acute obstacles to authentic democracy for Cambodian government is "media-extremism". What does it mean by the word media-extremism? Media-extremism here, I mean that most of the media networks of Cambodia are completely left-wing or completely right-wing. If the newspaper is pro-government, that newspaper all the time says good things about the government, and if the newspaper is pro-opposition party, the opposition party is all the time right and the government is all the time wrong. I found some determined and negative things in both the government and the opposition party, and the media should say those things out objectively.

I don't want this fourth power to be controlled by any party, but I want this power to free and factual. Of course, media is heterogeneous, anti-bureaucratic, creative, intellectual, all that are an efficient inherent to solving a small recent conflict. But people can be wrongly or fictionally steered, if the media has no liberal mind and tries to remove the nature and reality from the audience. The newspaper, is expertly operated, must be objective and fact-based; state wrong if it is wrong, and right if it is right.

Another qoute is that the opposition party has no passage at all to television, which today is the most grand fourth power in Cambodia. Democracy is separate from communism in equal conditions, provided to the contenders. I've never seen the opposition party has their says in the state television networks at all, this means that all the Cambodian television network is belonged to the government, not representing the people's interests. Information is knowledge, but that knowledge can craze the people's minds, if it is not fact-based, but unconditionally retain the government.

Non-objective Information would bring hardships to domestic and international viewers and analysts. Transparent information, I think, would attract more investors, because national and international investor would settle either to spend the money or not agreeing to the Information they get. Imbalanced Information would make those prospective investors doubtful. Political and economic analysts are on the same track; they can accurately and positively analyze the politics and economic growth of one country, in accordance to the Information they get. Because this problem, most of the political and prudent viewers of Cambodia turn to trust the sources of international institutions, especially the Un, more than the domestic sources.

Freedom of publication is one of the most efficient measures of why other regional or European worlds are much more industrialized than Cambodia. "No one can see the colour of his/her eyes, until he/she is helped by the mirror". people is the mirror of the government, their expressions would fill the loopholes of the government. A liberal-mind government would be a role model to make state's people liberal-mind as well. Constructive critics, endorsements, inventive ideas...etc are some of musts to heighten the government. So far, I have seen that Cambodian people are not keen or scared with their heart-based expressions or some even think that their expressions are nonsense to the government. Book-publications, as I have seen, is positively inadequate, because of inferior education, lack of libraries and printing houses, the majority of Cambodian people are not bookworms, and finally people have lack of chances to publishing their written books. Publishing retard of Cambodia would negatively affect the quality of education, which is the significant mechanism to development. Moreover, I have never seen the opposition party publish anyone at all, except in a few newspapers.

Conclusion

Paris Peace Agreement, and openness to regional and global integration, I believe, Cambodian amelioration will never shrink. However, Cambodia would face a lot of challenges, before it can prosper. One of the tools to get ready itself for regional contentions is "to reform and empower press system", by separating it from any political party, empowering the professional press labourers. And judiciary practice has to be a positively separated from legislative and menagerial power, so it can ensure the profession-based rights of the press workers. "Cambodia has a long way forward, but before it takes a first step, Cambodia has to have willpower; otherwise time and resources will be extravagantly wasted.
